About the book
Sailor Tessa Insinger and photographer Mortimer Davies sail to the Greek islands and along the Turkish coast for a reportage on refugees desperate to reach Europe. At sea they rescue a refugee from an overturned rubber boat: a Syrian girl. She is the only survivor of the disaster which has taken place.
Tessa and Mortimer decide to investigate what happened to the girl. In doing so they stumble across shrewd people smugglers, animated relief workers, dubious business people and shady Europeans fighting for a radical solution to the refugee tragedy. With information from the Syrian girl, Tessa and Mortimer unravel a conspiracy.
